This page gives our latest information on support agencies operating in and around Purley on Thames. Although we try to keep this up to date, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information and ask that support agencies contact us if their information changes from that shown. Also, any new support agencies wishing to be listed here please follow the notes at the bottom of this page.

Pangbourne & District Volunteer Centre
PDVC operate from Pangbourne Village Hall weekdays from 0930 to 1130. If you have a problem getting to a medical or professional appointment then give them a call on 0118 984 4586 and they will try to find a volunteer who can help. This is not a free taxi service so they usually suggest a donation to cover office expenses and mileage. However until 13th May
2023 donations are not accepted because the Government has provided a grant under the ‘Cost of Living support scheme’
Samaritans
Samaritans aims to benefit society by improving people’s emotional health in order to create a greater sense of well being. 24 hour source of support on the telephone, by email, by letter, or face to face. Also work in the local community. Wheelchair access available and disabled toilet.
You can get in touch about anything that’s troubling you, no matter how large or small the issue feels. All conversations are strictly confidential. dial 116 123 on any phone. You will be connected to a volunteer in the Reading office 59A Choleley Rd, RG1 3NB.
Alcoholics Anonymous
If you want help with a drinking problem, then we want to help you; If you want to speak to someone in your area who has found a solution to the problems they had as a result of their drinking you can call our helpline Free on 0800 9177 650, to be put in touch with someone locally. We strongly suggest that when you arrive you let someone know that this is your first meeting, that way they will be able to provide you with information that most people new to AA find useful.
